About Us
In 1990 a young couple in Nanaimo, British Columbia, were praying for a ministry that they could both work in. They went to Missions Fest in Vancouver and, by an act of God, discovered ministry to the seafarers, which turned out to the perfect fit for them. Nanaimo Lighthouse Ministries was created and here we are 35 years later (as of this writing) still ministering to the needs of seafarers who come into the ports of Central Vancouver Island. We work hard to do all that we can to meet the needs of seafarers with the limited time we have with them. It’s always a pleasure to sit and visit or have a meal together. We bring gifts, bread, toques, sweaters and coats (when available), and even take them shopping. We also advocate for their safety and well-being whenever we can.
We understand the loneliness and isolation that seafarers face when away from their families for such a long time. We also know that it’s a dangerous job and so we share the gospel (good news) of Jesus Christ to offer seafarers comfort knowing that their Heavenly Father is watching over them and protecting them. In our world of counterfeits it’s very important that we share the true gospel of Jesus Christ; God’s plan of Salvation, as outlined in the Bible, and not by any church, religion, philosophy, denomination, or belief.
It is our sincere prayer that you will read the following pages and be blessed with the truth, as outlined in God’s Word, about how Jesus Christ can free you from the trappings of this world system, transform you into a new person, and give you true assurance that you will enter Heaven. Salvation is a gift from God and not obtained by any works or goodness on our part. So read on and be blessed by the gospel of Jesus Christ!
